SELECTION OF BOOK PROJECTS

Book Proposal. 50-page Book Proposal written for author of a nonfiction novel. Part history, part memoir, the book follows the author on a journey to discover her family’s role in shaping 20th Century Europe. Within 72 hours of submission, the author received multiple offers with editors and publishers.

Fiction. What happens when a nation divides? The author, a former federal agent, explores a world in the not so distant future of a divided America. Drawing on personal and career experience, the author depicts a raw and very human story of the consequences of a country dissolving and becoming two extreme nations. The novel is both a prolific and timely warning. Working with the author, I provided a detailed manuscript review and the necessary steps to complete the novel for publication. Client has offers pending with publishers.

Self-Help. Helped the author to organize and edit his first book, "Marketing with a Heart." Currently available on Amazon. Main focus on structure, developmental editing and overall manuscript review.

Memoir. 150-page memoir on infertility. Worked with the author to find her voice, develop strong characters, themes and an overall story arc as well as provide line-by-line critiques of each chapter. After working with the writer for a year, she signed with a book agent.  (www.helpusadopt.org)

Health. Worked with the author to create a 40,000 word nonfiction book about pain management. Provided extensive research on anatomy, physiology and alternative therapy. Developed a narrative and structure for the story, wrote chapters as well as a biography, overview and marketing strategy for a detailed book proposal for agents and editors. In addition, created the book design including overall layout, font selection, individual page styles with images and text, and book size.

Home. This how-to book on landscaping had the objective of providing readers with a step-by-step guide to create a uniquely personal and beautiful outdoor space for their home. Primary issues consisted of helping the author with organization, style and original exercises, as well as providing an understanding of targeting an audience and time management skills to complete the project.

Biography. Spanning 5 generations, this detailed biography provided an intimate portrait of a family history. A two-year project, my role was to help the author craft and edit multiple revisions, do research, and learn how to conduct interviews. The book is an elegant portrait, documenting the family’s journey stemming from the rise of anti-Semitism in the late 19th Century Europe to the present day struggle to link and preserve their family’s culture, history and identity. (Private Publication)

Art. Assisted the author with a 250-page book about her life as a NYC artist. This was a creative collaboration, assisting with all aspects of development and structure, including line editing, shaping and refining the material as well as identifying an audience for the manuscript. The book included original paintings and additional work by the artist. (Private Publication)
